So why can't we get guests to leave when they say they're going to?
After the tenth polite reminder, another East Cape sunrise or two, a stroll around the orchards, a jaunt across the farm, a soak in the hot tub, a wander down to the beach, a jet boat ride up the Motu river, a quick round of golf, a foray into the Urewera National Park wilderness and a good book on the deck - we still can't coax our guests out.
One reason perhaps is the Cottage itself.
Yes, it's luxuriously comfortable, with its rimu interior and carpeted throughout, large lounge and dining room with stereo and video, full kitchen facilities including a dishwasher, separate toilet and bathroom and full laundry facilities - guests seem to be happy to stay longer and longer, reading all the books from the library, writing all their postcards and letters and sleeping in the super-kingsize beds. Surely they'd get tired of that...
Of course it could be the unforgettable views.
They are spectacular. Looking out over green fields to the sea and mountains. If you¿re up early enough for the sunrise you¿ll also enjoy the chorus of birds that populate the gardens and trees that surround the cottage. There¿s tuis by day and moreporks (NZ owl) by night. But they must get sick of that...
Perhaps it's all the local activities.
Strolling around our kiwifruit and avocado orchards, Motu river jet boating, exploring the local town, golfing, fishing and ambling along the miles of safe sandy swimming beaches. Otherwise jump in your car and within 2-hours easy drive are Gisborne (the world¿s most Eastern city and famous for its Chardonnay wine), Rotorua (tourist town with lots of geysers and hot-water) and Tauranga city (NZ¿s fastest growing commercial area). Of course the best drive of them all is up the beautiful East Cape with coastal views, beautiful secluded bays and some of the worlds best fishing.
But surely they would get tired of all that too?
Or perhaps it's our breakfasts.
Freshly baked muffins and home-baked bread for breakfast or try Kathleen¿s Thai or Greek cooking for dinner. Local food and local wine are specialities. Surely they must get tired of this?
